When leaving your house empty for the holidays there are a couple of very easy things you can do to avoid potential drama when you get back.
- The most important thing you can do for your plumbing when you leave for an extended period of time is turn the water off. Every house has a water meter on or close by to the street. Its as simple as opening the water meter box (Toby) and winding the valve in all the way (righty righty). Alternatively if you have an isolation valve at the point of water entry into your house this will also be fine.
- It's simple but just flick off the electrical switch to your hot water cylinder. This will not only greatly minimize the chances of your valves failing when your away (and making a mess) but will also save you some power at the same time.
- If your going away for an extended period ask your favorite neighbors to pop there head in every week just to make sure everything is above board (providing your favorite neighbors aren't on holiday with you).
- Last off all have a good Plumber saved in your phone. At Distinction Plumbing we can take care of all your plumbing issues letting you sit back and relax on your holiday knowing your in good hands. 022 026 1698.
